polishing technique

I am getting faint white lines when I polish my Ogee edge on Colors (http://www.g640.net) like baltic brown and (http://maplered.com) sapphire brown. Im not sure whats causing them. I recently switched from cheap chinese pads to upper end ones from gran quartz as well as the ones from helix. Neither are doing the trick.

Is it my technique??

What is the best techinque? Slow or fast? Can speed of polisher or amount of water be affecting it? This is driving me crazy, please help.
